Tyson faces Jake Paul on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys. In a historic first, Netflix will be airing it in place of DAZN Exclusive streamings. ‘Iron Mike’ and his return to boxing holds so much gravitas, that even an impetuous ‘Problem Child’ imitates his iconic face mark in the theatrical promo. Mike Tyson and his tattoo are recognizable by all.
In a 2014 interview with Donald McRae of The Guardian, Mike Tyson was in a dark time in his life when he got his famous tattoo. “I just hated myself then,” Tyson told McRae. “I literally wanted to deface myself.” He said he wanted his whole face done, but the tattoo artist told him he had a nice face and refused.
Know of middleweight division boxing rankings’s consensus favorite heavyweight and youngest champ Mike Tyson? Sure you do. Do you know that he is facing a 9-1 (6KOs) YouTuber boxer next? You just might. Did you know he has 44 career knockouts till now? Or that he once bit a peer’s ear off during a bout? That is a famed affair. What about his iconic face tattoo? Of all the above, that stands out as his selling point.

In another episode, Tyson admitted that he was intoxicated while getting the tattoo done. He said, “I think I was on coca*** at the time. I am drinking and I was f**** wanted to get a badass tattoo. Some mean s*** on my face.”
Though he has a tough reputation, one of the most interesting Mike Tyson facts is that he has a soft spot for racing pigeons. As a boy in Brooklyn, he spent $100 of his own hard-earned money to buy a flock that he kept on his roof.
Meanwhile, he also added a twist to his face tattoo and was seen enjoying it during new Year’s eve. Tyson has been donning his iconic face tattoo since 2003. He inked it before his fight against Clifford Etienne.
Jake Paul, the controversial social media influencer turned professional boxer, is no stranger to making headlines. Known for his larger-than-life personality and penchant for stirring up drama, Jake has managed to keep himself in the public eye through various stunts, fights, and social media posts. One particular incident that grabbed attention was the rumor and speculation around whether Jake Paul got a tattoo similar to that of boxing legend Mike Tyson.
The Mike Tyson tattoo has inspired countless fans to create their own tattoos, honoring their idol and the impact he has had on their lives. Tyson’s influence extends far beyond the ring, from boxing fans to tattoo aficionados.
The boxing star also admitted to being wasted when he got the tattoo on the same podcast. “I think I was on cocaine at the time,” he said “I am drinking and I was fucking wanted to get a badass tattoo. Some mean shit on my face.” Well, he certainly achieved his goal.
Mike Tyson, unfortunately, was not present at his Phoenix, Arizona home when the incident occurred. Upon learning of the situation while in Las Vegas, he promptly flew back to Phoenix to face this unimaginable ordeal. And now, years after her passing, Tyson in a heartwarming gesture, chose to get a tattoo of her face on his chest. The tattoo artist Noah Bissi did an impressive job at bringing the late Exodus to life once again through his art. He even shared the video of the process on his Instagram account.
Tyson got the tattoo done a week before the fight, and because of his lack of conditioning, he was asked to cancel the fight. However, Tyson decided to go forward with it and broke everyone’s expectations by defeating Etienne in 49 seconds.
Paul’s face tattoo, however, is fake since they did not show the tattoo being done properly, which means this was just for promoting the fight. Furthermore, Paul blatantly imitating Tyson is his way of paying homage to the legend, but several fans did not enjoy it.
Last month it was announced that Paul, a Youtuber-turned-boxer with ten professional fights to his name, would be taking on former unified world champion Tyson in a boxing match at the AT&T Arena in Texas.
